Lunch at the Moat Shed Cafe
Setting off from Barton City Airport, we travelled by helicopter, a short 35 minute flight south for lunch at the Moat Shed Cafe, which is close to Wem in Shropshire. En-route we passed over Outon Park, and Beeston and Peckforton Castles, and enjoyed great views towards South Shropshire and the Welsh border.
The Moat Shed is unique, run by tractor enthusiasts who have links to New Zealand, they import Kiwi wine and product exquisite food cooked from scratch using local produce. We chose a Northwood Sav Blanc from Nelson, which was enjoyed by all except the pilot. The smoked salmon roulade, followed by smoked haddock in a cheese sauce, was a good choice.
On the return trip we passed over and circled Alderley Edge. The view from the south looking towards Manchester city highlights the benefits of its location, with a fast rail and road link in from rural Cheshire.
A great day out with good friends.
